Gary daughters finally make it to New York

Sherri and Gary had been to New York several times before Kelli and Kaydi were able to come along.  Gary wanted to show the World Trade Center the his girls and they finally made it

Seeing the World Trade Centers on Memorial Day 2001

The Saxes, from Durand Wisconsin were only in New York from Thursday, May 24th through Tuesday May 29th, 2001. The late spring weather was warm and humid for the whole time.  We went downtown, to the Trade Centers, on Friday and Saturday.  On both days the towering trades tops were obscured by low clouds and fog from the Atlantic.  We toured other sites downtown and the rest of the city instead of the Trade Centers

Memorial Day, Monday, May 28, 2001 started out the same, low clouds, humid.  Gary wanted to try one more time so we headed to the Trade Center site once again.  When we got there, the sun shone through and the clouds lifted.  We got to the top for wonder views of New York and New Jersey

There was the terrorist bombing attempt in 1993 to bring the towers down.  Airport type security was installed for observation deck visitors.  Dennis made a fool of himself objecting when the family had to go through security to get to the top.  His premise was "this is not going to stop" future destruction attempts.  Unfortunately, his statement was accurate just 3 months from this tour
